We are committed to providing the education, equipment and support needed to assist people in becoming better prepared for interacting with nature, and offer hope for victims of natural disasters.
The evolution of the “Life+Gear” concept was greatly accelerated by the Southeast Asian tsunami disaster of 2004 as well as Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and the 7.2 earthquake in Pakistan in 2005.
While working on a revolutionary “Personal Safety Device” (PSD), a hand-held six feature crank-powered emergency product, the founders of Life+Gear, Pacific Pathway, sought to make this exciting product quickly available to the disaster victims who were in great need of the benefits the device provided. While pursuing this objective, the founders were shocked to discover the dearth of intelligently and practically designed products geared toward disaster preparedness and emergency utility.
With FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) challenging Americans to determine whether or not they were prepared enough to survive 72 disaster hours before help was potentially available, it became painfully evident that the creation of such a state of preparedness was not only confusing, but difficult, time consuming and expensive to execute. The safety needs of people living by the sea can differ considerably from the needs of people living in the mountains, or in earthquake, or fire prone areas whether they be urban or not. While disaster preparedness information is readily disseminated by Government agencies, schools, and churches and emergency kits do exist or are created by resourceful individuals, a single comprehensive source of disaster preparedness solutions was not available until the launch in 2005 of “Life+Gear”.
The Life+Gear line of emergency preparedness products has at its core a purpose design/built special disaster backpack containing, in an organized and easily accessible manner, a collection of critical base emergency products such as the Life+Gear PSD, first-aid kit, rain gear, hygiene set, special tools, signaling device, water and food, as well as a thermal blanket. To this collection, the purchaser can mix, match, or add a variety of different or other emergency products offered by the company to suit his particular needs or geographic location, products which can be purchased separately or in conjunction with the emergency backpack.
At a time when disaster concerns abound, Life+Gear provides families and individuals with the mental relief of knowing that they have quick access to their own emergency kits. With Life+Gear’s extensive collection of products and personal emergency backpacks for each member of the family, lifestyles are greatly enhanced with the knowledge that should a disaster occur, that the Life+Gear customer is as prepared as one can be.
